The situations behind these questions, and many others, are why we make a point of offering maintenance and upgrade service to our clients.
If your security system is more than five years old, the battery and sensors need to be checked and cleaned to ensure everything is in optimal condition. A flat battery isn’t going to protect your property! And did you know that more than 30 percent of stand-alone smoke detectors fail to operate correctly when fire strikes? The number-one reason why the smoke detectors don’t work is that the batteries have died or have been removed. We recommend service checks after two years, with five an absolute maximum.
If you have added new rooms remember to extend your security system to accommodate the larger area – it may be as easy as adding an extra movement sensor.
If you have a new pet in the family, be sure your security system knows about it – don’t leave the system off because your sensors haven’t been configured to correctly identify the presence of a pet when you’re out.
If you’ve moved into a new house with an alarm but no back-to-base monitoring, talk to us. We can commission the system to a 24-hour monitoring station.
Upgrade your security system with keyfob remotes – they can also operate your garage roller door if you’d like! These convenient little items are great for the elderly, busy Mums (and Dads!) with full hands at the front door – and are just what you need when it’s pouring with rain and you don’t want to get out of the car!
